Summary: The transport analysis of suspended sediment in estuaries can help in the management of the basin, as well as provide support to monitoring studies carted compounds adsorbed to these sediments. The estuary of the river Santa Maria da Vitoria make up part of a complex estuarine system located in the central region of the state of Espírito Santo, with the river Santa Maria da Vitoria as the main fluvial contribution to the system. The environment is to exhibit extensive tidal flats surrounding the estuary and to be an environment dominated by low tide. Possible influence of floodplains in the flow and the transport of suspended sediments along the estuary system are investigated using the computational model SisBaHia®. The computational model reproduces satisfactorily the elevation data of the surface of the water and middling the data current. The tidal flats had lower velocity magnitude values, compared adjacent channel speeds, indicate these flooded areas to be accumulation. The assessment of transport suspended sediments along the estuary in different river systems (Period of flood and drought) shows the influence of tidal flats in the retention of suspended sediments transported by the river Santa Maria da Vitoria, mainly the period of drought, WHERE the lower competence fluvial difficult transport of this material. Moreover, this study confirms that the upriver of Victoria Bay is dominated by sediments of source fluvial and that the presence of tidal flats significantly the geomorphology of the system.
